Example Use-Case: Performing Your First Data Load

The following instructions will guide you through performing an "Upsert" operation with the Data Loader.

Launching the Data Loader

  1. Locate the Data Loader in Windows by searching "Dataloader" in the windows Start Menu. 


    Adjusting the Batch Size 

  2. Once you have opened the Data Loader for the first time, there is one setting to tweak to make the data load process easier. Open the ‘Settings’ section and change the ‘Batch Size’ from ‘200’ to ‘1’. Press "OK" to save this setting.  Change Batch Size.PNG


    With the Batch Size set to 1, we are ready to start the import process. 


    Performing an Upsert


  3. Back on the main Data Loader page:Data Loader Main Screen.PNG

    Press ‘Upsert’

  4. Load the relevant template & Proceed with the import
    No action is required on the next screen, simply press ‘Next’:Load Upserts copy.png


  5. On Step 3, you will load in the .sdl file found on our data import documentation or otherwise provided by the FundPanel team:Mapping Selection.PNG
    This will auto-populate all of the field mappings. Press ‘Next’ to proceed to Step 4, where you will select a file location. This is where the Data Loader will place success & error messages in the form of CSV spreadsheets. 


  6. Once you have confirmed the file directory location, press ‘Finish’ to run the import process.Directory Selection.PNG

    Managing Errors

    If for any reason the data import results in errors please reach out to us at  support@fundpanel.io  
    However, you will notice there is an errors.csv and success.csv file created. Open the errors.csv file and on the far right column, you can see an error message that explains the error. 

    This might help you.  You can use this sheet to correct your data and Re-Upload the records that Error out.
