Before creating a Round, Transaction or Capitalization, you must create a Company Summary which will represent a single company within your portfolio. For instructions on how to create a company, please follow these instructions.

Creating the Round

Once you have navigated to the correct Company Summary within the portfolio, create a new Round Detail by scrolling down on the newly created 'Company Summary' and selecting 'New Round Detail'.

  • First select the investment type (Equity, Note, Fund etc.)
  • Select the Round (Series A, Series B, Common Stock, etc.)
  • Enter the Date of the Round
  • Note: The Valuation Type = Cost

  • The record type in this example is 'Investment'
  • Associate the proper Fund that is making the Investment
  • Enter the Date of the Investment
  • Enter the Cost and # of Shares (if applicable)

Creating the Capitalization

Once the transaction has been created and saved, press 'Send to Xero'. This will create an entry in the corresponding Xero GL.

Creating a new Capitalization is also done similarly to how we created the Round. Navigate back to the 'Company Summary' and scroll down until you see the option to create a 'New Capitalization'

At a bare minimum, the following fields should be entered for new capitalizations:

  • Date
  • Shares Authorized (Drives the Ownership % calculation)
