Understanding Contact Roles in FundPanel

FundPanel categorizes investors using a role-based system. Many roles are available for investor contacts, and it is extremely important that each contact be assigned the appropriate role(s) for each investment. The role assigned to each contact determines two things: 


1. Which communications an investor contact is eligible to receive

2. What tabs and details a portal user can view in the Investor Portal and what Documents a portal user can view in the Investor Portal (Tab must be enabled in the Admin settings to be visible)


Note: Contact roles control both portal permissions and communication eligibility, however a contact does not need to be activated on the investor portal to be eligible to receive communications. 


Below is a list of each contact role and a description of that role's function when assigned to a portal user. 



Contact Roles Explained

General

  • Communications: Eligible to receive fund communications of the General type
  • Portal Tabs: View FundCommitment and Overview tabs within the LP Portal & Fund and Commitment information 
  • Documents Tab: View Commitment, Fund-wide, and Client-wide Documents of type General


Capital Call 

  • Communications: Eligible to receive fund communications of the Capital Call type
  • Portal Tabs: View Capital Call & Overview tab within the LP Portal & Capital Call information
  • Documents Tab: View Commitment, Fund-wide, and Client-wide Documents of type Capital Call

Stock Distribution

  • Communications: Eligible to receive fund communications of the type Stock Distribution
  • Portal Tabs: View Distribution and Overview tabs & associated distribution information within the LP Portal
  • Documents Tab: View Commitment, Fund-wide, and Client-wide Documents of type Stock Distribution


Cash Distribution

  • Communications: Eligible to receive fund communications of the type Cash Distribution
  • Portal Tabs: View Distribution and Overview tabs & associated distribution information within the LP Portal
  • Documents Tab: View Commitment, Fund-wide, and Client-wide Documents of type Cash Distribution
  • Wire Details: the Cash Distribution role additionally grants access to the Wire Details tab within the LP Portal. (Note: this has now been deprecated use Investor Details Update roles)


Financial

  • Communications: Eligible to receive fund communications of the type Financial (Note: This includes Capital Account Statements)
  • Portal Tabs: View Overview, Funds, Capital Commitments, and Capital Account tabs & capital account information within the LP Portal
  • Documents Tab: View Commitment, Fund-wide, and Client-wide Documents of type Financial


Fundraising

  • Communications: Eligible to receive communications of the type Fundraising
  • Portal Tabs: View Fundraising tab
  • Fundraising Tab: View Commitment, Fund-wide, and Client-wide Documents of type Fundraising 


Portfolio 

  • Communications: Eligible to receive fund communications of the Portfolio
  • Portal Tabs: View Overview, Funds, Capital Commitments and Portfolio tabs & related information


Advisory Board, Legal, Tax, and Custom Contact Roles

  • Communications: Eligible to receive fund communications of the Type that matches the Contact Role
  • Portal Tabs: View Documents tab
  • Documents Tab: View Fund or Commitment Documents of the Type that matches the Contact Role


Update Wire/Vehicle/Tax/Contact/In-Kind Details

  • Communications: Not affected
  • Portal Tabs: View Investor Details tab with the details section of the type that matches the Contact Role



Do Not Email

  • Communications: Prevents all types of communications
