Historical Capital Account uploads can leverage FundPanel's existing template generation tools. This article will walk through exporting templates from each Fund, which in turn can be filled out & imported back into the database to add any Capital Accounts that did not originate from FundPanel.

Step 1. Generate the Capital Account Template

Templates are typically provided on a per-fund basis. This is because each template will be unique with its own individual Commitments and Investment Vehicles.

To generate a historical Capital Account template, take the following steps in Salesforce:

  • Navigate to a particular Fund record.
  • Click the Capital Account button.
  • Enter in a any value for As Of (this will be backfilled with the correct value later in the process).
  • Click Next.
  • Click Next.
  • Click Next.
  • Click 'Export Template'.

Now that you have your unique 'Historical Capital Account Template' for this particular Fund, you will need to make the follow edits:

  • Create a copy of this tab (we recommend 5 tabs).
  • Each tabs will represent a particular As Of Date for the Capital Accounts within the Fund.

If the client is unable to access the system, this template can now be provided to the client for data entry.

Step 2. Upload the Historical Capital Account Template per As Of Date per Fund

Once you receive the Historical Capital Account templates from the client, you will begin by uploading the oldest Capital Account (As Of Date) first.

  • Navigate to the particular Fund record
  • Click the Capital Account button on the Fund record.
  • Enter in the appropriate date value for the As Of date field.
  • Select 'Include All Commitments' checkbox.
  • Click Next.
  • Click Choose File button.
  • Select the appropriate CSV file.
  • Click Process CSV file.
  • Click Confirm & Save.
