This article provides instructions on how to disable a specific Salesforce feature that sends HTML files instead of large attachments when all attachments in a communication exceed 3MB in size. By following the steps outlined below, you can modify this behavior and choose to include attachments up to the Salesforce email size limit or send them as links. This article assumes basic familiarity with navigating the Salesforce setup and configuration.

Please note that this feature is disabled in 98% of our Salesforce organizations by default. However, if you wish to change this setting, the following steps will guide you through the process:

Disabling the Feature

Step 1: Accessing the Setup Menu

  1. Log in to your Salesforce account with administrative privileges.
  2. Navigate to the top-right corner of the Salesforce interface and click on your username or profile picture.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select "Setup."

Step 2: Locating Email Attachments Settings

  1. Once you are in the Salesforce Setup, you will see a left-hand sidebar with various categories. In the quick search bar at the top of the sidebar, type "Email Attachments" and hit Enter.
  2. The search results will display a link titled "Email Attachments." Click on it to access the relevant settings.

Step 3: Configuring the Attachment Behavior

  1. On the Email Attachments page, you will see the option "Include as attachment up to Salesforce email size limit or as links if more." This option is selected by default.
  2. To disable the feature and send attachments as regular attachments, uncheck the box next to "Include as attachment up to Salesforce email size limit or as links if more."

Step 4: Saving and Applying Changes

  1. After unchecking the box, scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  2. Click on the "Save" button to save your changes and apply the new attachment behavior.
  3. Salesforce will confirm that your changes have been saved.
